Why does my iPhone always start playing up or die just after the manufacturer warranty expires? 

The logic board; which holds hundreds of small, delicate component; is screwed into the housing. When the housing flexes, so does the board, which often causes these components to disconnect, and creates a short on the board.

This is often characterised by decreased performance and increased heat. 


The complete design of a device is often a good indication of its reliability and longevity. 

Poor manufacturer design = more regular upgrades = more profit? 

Luckily, most faults are fixable.
