Fingerprint Scanner, Hidden Behind The Screen

by George Lovell | | 0 comments

More and more mobile phones are being manufactured with in-display fingerprint scanners.

These scanners work by capturing the reflected light of the fingerprint through the OLED pixels. The display illuminates your fingerprint so that the sensor can capture a high resolution reading of your fingerprint through the light reflected from the gaps between the pixels. The sensor turns this light into an equation based off the contrasting points on your fingerprint ridges.

Clever stuff 👍
This is a Huawei Mate 20 Pro we replaced the screen on earlier. We offered our customer two options - with or without a replacement fingerprint scanner (the scanners are expensive to make). In the end, we fitted the new scanner.

Successful repair ☑️
