O2 & Virgin Media Complete A £31 Billion Merger👀

by George Lovell | | 0 comments

O2 has around 34 million mobile phone users.

Virgin has about six million broadband and cable TV customers and three million mobile users.

O2 provides the network for Tesco Mobile, Giffgaff and Sky Mobile.

Virgin don't have their own 5G infrastructure, and have been piggybacking off of Vodafone's 5G masts until now.

A telecoms giant partnering with a huge broadband provider will surely rival BT, which will hopefully drive innovation and keep prices down as the companies compete.

O2 & Virgin are set to spend £10 billion on upgrading their infrastructure over the next 5 years. This should result in 5G coverage and fast broadband across the entire country👊

This should encourage other providers to invest further in to digital infrastructure. This will offer consumers more choice, better connectivity and greater overall value. It could also help grow the telecoms sector and UK economy quite significantly.
