1. Logic board repair & advanced services

These repairs are complex and are subject to an increased degree of risk. Repairs will come with a limited warranty or no warranty, depending on the fault.

Repairs that require soldering or reflow of components often require temperatures in excess of 400 degrees Celsius, which can cause damage to nearby components, no matter how much caution is taken.

Be advised
Talkback Comms cannot guarantee that these services will be successful or accept responsibility for the resultant loss of any data or functionality.

These services may still be subject to a labour fee if unsuccessful.

We strongly recommend backing up any important data before repair.

2. Liquid damage repair

We have a page specifically dedicated to liquid damage: Click Here.

3. Apple iPhone/iPad Repair

Water Resistance – iPhone 7 & Above

Once a device has been damaged, opened, or repaired, it has permanently lost water resistance. We will take all necessary steps to fully seal the device, but do not guarantee equivalent protection to that of the original factory seal. We advise keeping your device away from liquid.

This is stated in our repair terms & conditions.

Face ID – iPhone X, XS, XS Max, XR, 11, 12, 13 & 14 Series, iPad Pro Series

Faults relating to Face ID, dot projector, or flood illuminator can occur during or after repair. This is very rare but cannot be avoided and cannot be fixed in some cases. These faults are not covered under warranty.

This is stated in our repair terms & conditions.

Sometimes we reset Face ID for testing, in which case, you may need to set up Face ID after repair.

Service History – iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, SE 11, 12, 13 & 14 Series

Many internal parts are serialized i.e., uniquely linked to the device. When a new part is fitted, the phone will detect that it has been changed.

With a replacement screen for example, when the phone is restarted, you will receive a notification stating, “Unable to verify that iPhone has a genuine Apple display”. You can dismiss this notification. It will not affect the performance.

This will occur with non-OEM, OEM and 100% original displays unless we transfer the touch module. If you would like us to transfer the touch module, we can do this in some cases, but it will take longer and cost more. We can only do this if you have your original factory screen that came with the phone.

We cannot do this with other components such as the camera.

If we replace the battery, you will no longer be able to view battery health in Settings. We have alternative methods that allow us to check the battery.

Original vs Aftermarket Displays

Original screens are either removed from devices, or refurbished display panels. These are the best quality screens available. Compatible screens are brand new OLED or LCD assemblies. Read about the differences here

Physical Damage

Cracked glass or displays, or any indication of physical damage, liquid damage, accidental damage or third-party tampering will void the warranty.

This is stated in our repair terms & conditions.

4. Apple iPhone/iPad charging circuit repair

We can repair a device by repairing or replacing the charge IC (integrated circuit) and/or components relating to the charging circuit.

These components fail when poor quality charging equipment is used, because it can flood the device with voltage spikes, which can damage the component.

Apple devices are very susceptible to this issue. Using non-genuine charging equipment may cause this component to fail again.

Advanced services and logic board repairs come with a limited warranty. We do not give any warranty on this repair.

If a technician deems any fault to be a result of physical damage, accidental damage, liquid damage, reckless use, misuse of accessories (including non-genuine charging equipment), pre-existing damage/faults or third-party tampering/repair work, then this warranty is void.

To prevent the reoccurrence of this fault, we advise the following:

  • Use genuine, certified, or high-quality charging equipment.
  • Use the correct charging equipment for your device: 1 amp plug for iPhone, 2.1 amp plug for iPads.
  • Charge your device via the mains when possible.
  • Avoid overuse of power banks, charging cases, and car chargers, and be sure that they are high quality.

We stock a range of genuine and high-quality charging equipment for all devices.

5. Repair of a sealed device

These repairs require the device to be heated and clamped to re-seal.

In-store Repairs
We fit strips of tape to your device, so that it can be completed and collected sooner.

For back glass and camera lens repairs, this tape must be left on for a minimum of 2 hours after completion.

For screen repairs, this tape must be left on for a minimum of 4 hours after completion.

For all iPad repairs, this tape must be left on for a minimum of 4 hours after completion.

You can assume completion time to be the time that we contact you to tell you that your device is ready for collection.

You can turn on and use the device whilst the tape is still on.

Be advised that removing the tape prematurely will likely result in an insufficient seal.

Mail-in Repairs
We have fitted strips of tape so that we were able to dispatch the device same-day.

The device has had sufficient time to seal.

You can remove the tape immediately.

Water Resistance
Once a device has been damaged, opened, or repaired, it has permanently lost water resistance. We will take all necessary steps to fully seal the device, but do not guarantee equivalent protection to that of the original factory seal. We advise keeping your device away from liquid exposure.

This is stated in our repair terms & conditions.

6. Repair of a device with compromised structural integrity

Devices that have been significantly physically damaged, have bent frames or housings, or mis-shaped/dented edges or corners are more susceptible to breaking on impact, and may be more susceptible to liquid damage. Physical damage and liquid damage are not covered under warranty. We recommend using a protective case.

For devices with bent or damaged frames and housings, we recommend backing up any important data, in case of logic board damage.

We have taken the necessary steps during repair to ensure that the device and any replacement components are as reliable as possible.

If your device has a cracked back glass or screen, and we are replacing a different component, we will be extremely cautions, but there is a small chance that the pre-existing damage will sustain further damage during removal. This will not be replaced free of charge or under warranty.
