More and more mobile phones are being manufactured with in-display fingerprint scanners.
These scanners work by capturing the reflected light of the fingerprint through the OLED pixels. The display illuminates your fingerprint so that the sensor can capture a high resolution reading of your fingerprint through the light reflected from the gaps between the pixels. The sensor turns this light into an equation based off the contrasting points on your fingerprint ridges.
Clever stuff 👍 This is a Huawei Mate 20 Pro we replaced the screen on earlier. We offered our customer two options - with or without a replacement fingerprint scanner (the scanners are expensive to make). In the end, we fitted the new scanner.

The Samsung S10 topped most tech sites phone of the year, and we have to agree. Samsung also continue to dominate Europe, with 7 devices in the top 10 best-selling models across the Continent! However, this doesn't account for Q4 sales, which haven't been published and verified yet. We expect the iPhone XR to climb the list.
The A50 performed exceptionally well - which isn't surprising considering it has top-tier specs and can be bought for around £300.
Apple continue to announce mind-blowing revenue and profits (over $240 billion and $45 billion respectively for the year), and also continue to dominate Portishead - where we repair and sell over 5x the number of Apple devices than anything else! We got to know the iPhone 6S well this year, with it being the most repaired device, our best seller, and most frequent device sold to us by our customers! The iPhone 7 has become the most common device bought, sold and repaired in recent months.
Samsung screen replacements have increased this year, partly thanks to a couple of our corporate customers that keep us busy with broken S8's - Back Glass Replacements were just outside the top 10. Our first Huawei repair was completed in May 2013, and we've seen steady growth since, with Huawei screen repairs finally becoming a regular occurrence this year.
Screen & battery replacements continue to keep us busy, with well over 1000 of each being completed this year for walk-in customers alone.
Did you know that Brits spend almost £700 million per year getting their devices repaired! A shout out to our best local customers; including one lady who visited us 10 times; 5 of which for a screen replacement; and one gentleman who purchased 5 devices from us!
Just some passing thoughts, as we close up for a couple of days.
As the year (and decade) comes to a close, it's time to close the 2019 chapter, make peace with all that is good and bad, and come through into 2020 with a fresh perspective.
It's also a perfect time to not judge, but to reflect on the year; what went well, what underwhelmed, what was unexpected... This year bought with it its fair share of triumphs, misfortune and challenges; as a business, personally, and for the people around us.
We are so grateful for our community, our customers, and those who support us in what we're trying to do; you make this fun and fulfilling for us! We look forward to continuing to provide and improve upon our service to reach new heights in 2020.
As we take time to relax, indulge and spend time with friends & family, let's make the most of what is many peoples favourite time of year, but also be mindful that it's not such a joyous time for everyone, and to appreciate everything that we are so lucky to have.
Stay Blessed & Happy Christmas ❤️

The Moto Razr V3 was an old favourite of ours, and no doubt many of yours. 15 years on, the Razr is making a come back.
Motorola's take on foldable phones is a bit different; with the aim to keep them smaller, rather than create a phone/tablet hybrid. The Razr utilises a smaller display on the back, meaning you can check your notifications etc. without opening the phone.
